I am currently writing this message from a small internet cafe in Coniston - I have been here for 5 days camping at Land's Point on the edge of Coniston Water Lake. I spent the first few days building my site and fencing off areas so that I could put down some nice artificial plants and handmade animals. I put up my big white gazebo and hung my informational fact sheets from it all ready for the general public on Sunday. When they turned up people seemed very interested in the information that I had to offer. It was a very positive day and many people of Coniston will now be removin the plants and creatures from their gardens and starting again.
BUT THEN
On Monday a storm began and by the end of the day my lovely gazebo and all of my informational fact sheets were gone. I was devastated, it has been a big set back - but I will not be defeated I have so much stuff to do here so many plants to remove, so much water to boil and of course my tunnel to continue digging. The tunnel is going well and I reckon by 3pm tommorrow I can start goin horizontally beneath the lake. The diggin tent has held up just fine.
I am currently doing alot of water based promotion with my rubber dinghy, yesterday I paddled all the way from Land's Point to the boating centre where I distributed leaflets and spread the ideas to the public. I decided to walk back on the nice little footpath that goes from the boating centre to Coniston Hall on the way I released some animals - please take a walk along the path and you might see them!
I met a man from the sailing club and I told him about my friend Peter up in Derwent Water and the work he's doing removing all the animals and vegetation from the lake. My new friend told me that the swans at Coniston are good at removing the weed. This got me thinkin and I decided to not catch up any swans yet as they are actually helping me.
I have been busy cutting trees down at Coniston Hall today and I have just removed ten fully grown silver birches. Tommorrow I will be replacing them with some nice safe plastic Chirstmas trees. Look out for me in my blue Nova in the main car park by the tourist office in Coniston tommorrow mornin where I'll be promotin my ideas and then tommorrow afternoon on the water when I will be in my dinghy educating people on boats and at the boating centre see you tommorrow,
Sirus
Hmmm...,
You give me a lot to think about.
